Arrival and Departure

Check-in is after 3:00 pm and checkout is by 11:00 am unless prior arrangements have been made. If arriving early or departing late, luggage can be securely held at Casa Murguia according to your travel schedule.

Upon arrival, you will be met by a member of staff who will give you keys to your unit as well as a walk-through orientation of your rental suite and the property. Please do not lose the keys, as there are charges for duplicate keys and for letting you back in.

While it is not necessary to clean the unit before you leave, please hang up any wet towels inside and turn off all lights upon departing. Be sure to leave all keys behind. Unless other arrangements have been made, lock the door to your bungalow and the front door or side gate, and then leave the keys in the provided envelope on the swing on the front porch. Pull the street gate shut behind you.


Rental Period/Reservations

Casa Murguia’s minimum rental period is for four nights.

To secure a reservation a deposit is required:

* 25% of the total rent when reserving less then 8 months prior to arrival

* 1/8th of total rent if more than 8 months with a 2nd deposit installment of 1/8th due 8 months prior to arrival date.

The balance on the rent is payable no later than one month prior to arrival with the exception of group or multiple unit rentals and during high season when the balance is due two months prior to arrival.


Rent Includes:

Housekeeping 6 days a week. Here is no housekeeping on Saturdays. Includes:   “tidying up”, dishes, making the bed, emptying wastebaskets, sweeping. Weekly change of sheets and towels. For rentals longer than one week a complete cleaning will be done once a week – bathroom, cleaning floors, dusting, etc. Bottled water, toilet paper, Kleenex & coffee filters are included in the rent. Paper towels are not. There is no “on site” laundry available although a reputable and economical same-day laundry service is right across the street.


We are unable to accommodate pets at this time.

Smoking is limited to the rooftop terrace, and front porch but only if you are staying in the Primavera or Villa del Sol.

The suites will not be rented to anyone under 25 years of age.

The rent for all units includes up to three people (children or adults) and an extra bed can be added upon request at no extra charge. There is a $100 per week or $20 per night surcharge for a 4th person. The number of guests shall not exceed these numbers without authorization from the property manager.

Renting more than one unit can accommodate families or groups.

Arrangements must be made in advance for visitors to be entertained on the premises in the event of a small get-together around the pool, etc.


The reason for cancellation is solely an issue for the booking party. Casa Murguia cannot be held liable for any circumstances that do not allow for arrival and use of reserved accommodations.

A reservation can be cancelled up to two months prior to arrival and 50% of the reservation deposit will be refunded, with the exception of high season rentals for which there is no deposit refund. High season is Day of the Dead and Christmas through the end of March.

If the reservation is cancelled two months to one month prior to arrival there is no refund for the deposit. After the final rent has been received there is no refund available although the renter may be able to rebook at a later date provided it was possible to fill the dates of the cancelled reservation or the owner decides to make an exception.

Note: after full payment for multiple unit rentals has been received, no later than two months prior to arrival there is no refund. The owner of casa Murguia may provide a partial refund if the reserved units can be rented.

Payment is for the original length of the reservation. No refund or credit is issued for reservation changes involving late arrival or earlier departure.

Travel insurance is always a good idea.

Other Fees

A weekly tip of approximately 150 to 200 pesos to the housekeeper is requested.

There is a $100 US fee for all payments that arrive after the scheduled due date.

There is $150 cash U.S. damage deposit per unit or $500 deposit when renting the entire casa. This is received upon arrival and returned less any damages upon departure. Additional $100 damage deposit per child (we love kids but they can be hard on things). This includes things like: towels bleached or stained by facial products & footprints on the walls, ink or pen stains on sheets or furniture.   Any unusual cleaning charges, such as cleaning rugs, upholstery, and/or furnishings will be assumed by the renter.

There is a $20 USD charge for duplicate keys.
